A New Era of Opportunity: Celebrating the Graduation of the 'Train to Hire' Program

This week marked a significant milestone for the graduates of the 'Train to Hire' program, an initiative designed to empower individuals with essential skills for the construction industry. Under the leadership of Joseph Jingoli Jr., CEO of Jingoli, the program has fostered a strong connection between local communities and the construction workforce, encapsulating the spirit of commitment that Jingoli and its partners have towards community development.

In an inspiring address at the graduation ceremony, Jingoli reflected on the origins of the program, revealing that the vision for 'Train to Hire' stemmed from a family legacy rooted in the construction industry. "About 35 to 40 years ago, my brother and I asked ourselves how we could become more entrenched in the communities we serve,” he recounts. The answer: by recruiting and hiring locals, bringing the warmth and familiarity of kitchen-table discussions to the job site.

This approach not only aims to improve community relations but also ensures that the workforce is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the industry. Jingoli emphasized the importance of certification and active participation in the labor community. "Take advantage of every opportunity to learn... Attend every single union meeting and make sure they all get to know who you are," he advised graduates.

A pivotal figure in the 'Train to Hire' program is Anthony Brower, whose relentless dedication has driven the training efforts across numerous projects. Brower echoed Jingoli’s sentiments, urging graduates to seize educational opportunities, be active community members, and advocate for themselves in their new careers. “When you have a career now, we need you,” he said, highlighting the shift from simply having a job to building a sustainable future in the industry.

The graduates responded with heartfelt gratitude. Brittany Hayward, representing her classmates, spoke candidly about the journey they undertook. She recalled the comprehensive training they received over the 13-week course, from understanding construction mathematics to hands-on training in building structures. “This is a stepping stone and a great platform for us to continue to live well, not just to survive, but to actually thrive," she affirmed, articulating the pride and emotional significance of the program.

The 'Train to Hire' program not only equips individuals with hands-on skills but also instills a sense of pride and belonging within the construction community. As expressed by Jingoli and Brower, this initiative is about creating pathways for local talent to blossom, fostering a workforce that reflects the communities they serve.

As the graduates embark on their new careers, they carry with them not just the technical skills they learned but also the values and principles emphasized throughout the program. With strong support from local leaders, community organizations, and the drive of the participants, the 'Train to Hire' initiative promises a brighter future for both the graduates and the industries they are entering.

In closing, the graduation ceremony was not just a celebration of accomplishments but a reaffirmation of a commitment to community development and empowerment. With leaders like Jingoli and Brower at the helm, the future of the construction workforce looks promising, and the impact of programs like 'Train to Hire' will be felt for years to come.
